The recording levels and somewhat repetitive writing could be improved upon, but this remains one of my favourite stories. While at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of Western Ontario back in 1995, I couldn't help but notice the rather large number of doughnut shops. So of course I needed to investigate (that and the Cat Hotel among others...)

Who knew that hanging out at the doughnut shop at various hours of the day and night would yield such a compelling snapshot of Canadian culture?
